Born from Landa’s deep connection to his Mexican heritage and his lifelong exploration of global music, Locarno creates a sound that is both deeply rooted and endlessly adventurous. Drawing inspiration from son jarocho, Afro-Cuban rhythms, cumbia, soukous, marimba traditions, and North American folk and popular music, the band weaves intricate melodies, dazzling percussion, and unforgettable songs into a joyful musical tapestry.
A founding member of the internationally acclaimed folk-roots group The Paperboys, Tom Landa has spent decades bringing diverse musical traditions together. His journey with Locarno has included immersive study of traditional Mexican music in Veracruz, resulting in a unique blend of authenticity, virtuosity, and contemporary creativity.
